The Jesus at The Center Retreat will set the stage for a new era of ministry
We will begin a new phase of a dynamic youth ministry during the Memorial Day Weekend for youth ages 10-17. We are working on the foundations of a 40-year ministry held during the month of August. Now, we will bring close to 100 youth from NY, NJ, and L.I. to the Presbyterian Center in Holmes, NY during the Memorial Day weekendbeginning on Friday, May 26th through Monday, May 29, 2017.
In 2017, we enter into a new stage of ministry! The Jesus at The Center Retreat Celebrations will be multicultural and inter-generational. For every four participants attending, congregations will need to bring 1 adult. We will create safe spaces for youth and adults to share in seminars, studies and worship. The goal is for our adults to support the faith development and spiritual formation of our young people upon their return to congregational life and daily living!
The Jesus at The Center Retreat will be intercultural and inter-generational in nature where adults, youth workers, and youth will gather to worship, enjoy each other's presence, and discuss the challenges of youth ministry during these changing times. The Jesus at The Center Retreat will focus its goals on the foundation and reality that Jesus is The Center of our lives, worship, faith development, and spiritual formation. We will seek active partners such as the Synod of the Northeast, the General Assembly of the PCUSA, the Presbyteries of NYC, Long Island, Elizabeth, friends and families excited about the possibilities of nurturing a generation of youth excited about their relationship with God.
Since January 2017 a team of dedicated emerging leaders have gathered to organize this new venture. Convened by the Rev. Dr. Victor Aloyo, Jr., this team of leaders are excited in preparing this major event for us all.
